When life gives you lemons 🍋 just make lemonade.
I remember this being said to me when I was young. And I didn’t realize I would one day use it in leadership trading to describe the development of agility.
And agility is a learnt skill. One we can only develop if we embrace change and uncertainty.
And these are both uncomfortable to humans. We love it when things are predictable. When we know what is coming. When we can see what is in the future.
And thus we spend our lives between the desire to grow, which only happens when we step outside of our comfort zone, and the desire to to be comfortable and predict what is in our tomorrow.
Being human is about contradictions. We are creatures that can contain and hold multiple ideas, complex identities and beliefs, emotions that challenge, shame us and bring us joy all at once.
And so it’s hard to navigate this. But to be able to understand ourselves and find acceptance and growth we must navigate this complexity.
And this involves uncovering this discomfort, connecting with our inner emotions, navigating our feelings, and the feelings we have about feeling and ourselves.
We need to understand how and what soothes us, and practice that. And we must understand what stresses us and stop that.
And that’s what I love to do.
And what I write about. At work because we spend way too much time there to not be happy there.
And in our community…. Because we really we are like branches of a 🌳 tree. We are social beings. We need others to be whole.
So it is important to get back to out community roots. We need others, we thrive with others.
Do whatever it means to you, find your tribe.
That is it for today.
Tchau for now.
