“Mushin in Japanese and Wuxin in Chinese (無心 “no mind”) is a mental state.
Zen and Daoist meditators, as well as those trained in martial arts, strive to achieve this state, and they also practice it during daily activities. The term is an abbreviation of mushin no shin , a Zen expression meaning “mind without mind,” and is also known as the state of “no-mind.”
In essence, it is a mind that is not fixed or occupied by thoughts or emotions and, therefore, open to everything.
Mushin occurs when the mind is free from thoughts of anger, fear, or ego in daily life, when there is an absence of discursive thinking and judgment, and we are completely free to act and react to life without hesitation, without the inner critic, with our minds in a state of flow. When the state of flow is interrupted, the mind can be harmed and well-being is affected.
Here at Zen-Mushin, we are dedicated to healthy minds and bodies, and we offer a range of customized solutions to support the well-being of both individuals and workplaces.
